Chapter 1- Captured and bound by childhood

A tiny puppy ran across the road in a street not very well known to the normal human. It was close to the forest and not very traveled. A tiny, golden haired boy smiled at the appearance of his puppy. The boy grinned as the puppy ran as fast as its stubby legs could to reach its master. All the boy could do was scream as he saw a speeding car come closer to the dog.

* * * * *

A grinning, auburn haired girl laughed as she saw her little brother outside swimming alongside a whale.

"Having fun!?" She called out as her brother grinned and waved back. Little did she know, her 8-year-old brother was being watched by two sets of lurking eyes.

* * * * *

"Bet you can't eat as much as I can!" A dark haired boy yelled to his other sibling who grinned back.

"You're on!" The boy said as the two scrambled to eat their food.

"You two are going to get yourselves sick, 'ya know." Another girl warned as the two boys laughed.

"That won't happen! You know that nothing gets past my rock iron stomach!" The older boy exclaimed. All the girl could do was laugh at the truth behind her brother's words. A loud crack above her caused her to look up from her seat against the tree. She gasped as a large tree branch broke off and began to fall onto her. She screamed, waiting for the impact to come, but it never did. She opened her eyes slowly and looked up to see that her older brother was holding the branch.

"How.... How can you do that!? It's not humanly possible!" She yelped as he shrugged.

"I dunno. But you're just lucky that it didn't hit you, 'cause then you'd be as flat as a pancake! By the way, I wish I had some pancakes right now." The boy said as he tossed the branch aside.

"Guys, lets go home. I'm not that hungry for a picnic anymore. A near death experience can do that to you." The girl said as the three headed home. Halfway there, the older boy stopped dead in his tracks.

"Guys, I left my backpack by the creak. I'm go and get it."

"OK. But be careful Kento." The older boy nodded.

"Don't worry 'bout me. I'll be fine." Kento said as he left the two. And that's the last they saw of their brother.

* * * * *

"But miss Henry, I'm tired of having no dinner! It's not fair that we get no food for three days in a row, while some kids get three meals per DAY!!" A young boy yelled, his tiger blue eyes flaring in anger.

"Ryo, I told you once and I'll tell you again, the orphanage can't afford that much."

"If my father wasn't dead, he'd do something about this!" Ryo shouted as he turned away from the woman.

"That's it, I'm sick and tired of being stuck in this hell-hole! I'm leaving!" Ryo then felt a hand sharply smack across his face.

"Ryo, you are seven years old! A seven year old has no right to use such foul language!"

"Well I don't care what you think a seven year old should act like!" Ryo said as he bolted out of the room. He continued running until he reached the edge of the forest. He sat on a log and began to bawl.

"I... I wish that my mommy and daddy were still alive, and that the kitty would come by again." Ryo sobbed into his sleeve, as he heard a rustling in the shrubs.

"Kitty? Is that you?" Ryo called out as three men appeared.

"No, we're not your kitty. Were your new owners."

"Owners? I'm not an animal. And why would you want me anyway? I'm just a little orphan that all adults hate because I don't take crap from anyone."

"We don't hate you."

"What do you want from me?" Ryo demanded as he stood up.

"We know about your powers." Ryo glared at them.

"You bastards!" Ryo exclaimed as he tried to bolt but was grabbed. He closed his eyes and tried to burn his captures to no avail.

"Who do you take us for, fools? We know about your powers, so we came prepared." One man held up his hands to show the fireproof gloves.

"Now stop struggling boy or we're going to have to sedate you." The man warned as Ryo ignored them and continued in his struggles. A cold needle slipped into his arm as he yelped in pain.

"Miss Henry, Help Me!" Ryo yelled one last time before darkness claimed him.

* * * * *

An azure haired boy sat on a bench in the park, reading with only the streetlights to help him. His father had another girl over who, quote on quote "hates children", and so he had been forced to sleep outside. Rowen glanced up at the stars and couldn't help but awe over their beauty. Ever since he was five and his mom left, he had always wanted to be an astronomer. The stars were just so beautiful he loved them. And when the lights went out, they guided his way.

"Hello." A rather harsh voice said as Rowen jerked up to face the speaker. It was a man, in about his thirties.

"Umm... Get away from me." Rowen said as the man laughed huskily. He grabbed Rowen's wrist as the blue haired child rammed his foot in the man's groin. The boy closed his eyes and quickly levitated above the man's reach.

"Don't come near me..." Rowen warned as the man looked at him.

"Why not. Even if I were to take you, at least your father could no longer hurt you." The man said as Rowen looked down in shock.

"How do you know about my father? Were you spying on me? That's a crime called "invasion of property." It's a criminal offense and could get you in big trouble." Rowen warned again.

"I'm sorry that I'm worried about someone that is as special as yourself. I am a scientist. My name is Andrew McGallon and I work for the United States government."

"If you work for the United States government, then why are you here in Japan?" Rowen demanded as the man laughed.

"You are quite smart aren't you? There were reports about as boy seen in this park with an ability to levitate."

"If someone were to file a report, then they would have reported it to the Japanese government, not the United States."

"The reports were filed by an American tour group who reported it when they got home."

"Well, that's a load of crap. I'm not stupid."

"I never said that you were. I just want to tell you that we were planning to run a program for other children like you, ones with powers that we hope to develop. We would feed you, clothe you, and give you everything that you need, but you would be living in America."

"And what if I said no?"

"No is not an option." The man said as he leapt up and grabbed Rowen's leg, dragging the child down. He quickly pulled out a needle and jammed it into Rowen's arm as the young boy screamed out in pain and terror.

Emanuel Christians drove down a dirt road on his way to meet up with the other scientists to see if their reports had followed up to anything. His had been just a joke, there was no child who could turn himself invisible. Emanuel had become angry when he'd found nothing, and his driving was far from his normal cautiousness. While he was ignoring the world, he didn't notice the dog crossing the street as he hit the animal head on. He immediately pulled over to help the creature when he heard a small voice scream out.

"Kyoro!" Emanuel leaped out of the car to see a tiny boy with unusual blonde hair for this place, clutching the puppy. Emanuel froze in his tracks when he realized that the boy wasn't crying. Instead the child was humming gently to the dog. Emanuel stepped closer, unsure of what to make of the situation. It was then he finally realized what was happening. The gash on the dog was slowly healing, and the protruding bone was slowly returning to its normal position. The dog was in some trance, oblivious to the pain. It was then the child's eyes shot open, as did the dogs.

"Kyoro, thank goodness you're all right...." The boy muttered before he fell limp to the ground. The dog began licking its master's face. Emanuel slowly walked over to the two and picked the boy up.

"Maybe today was worth while after all." He said as he carried the boy to his car, despite the dog's protests.

"Don't worry mutt, I'm just taking him home." The man said as he set the boy in the back. The dog calmed down and stopped protesting.

"The boss is going to be pleased..." Emanuel laughed as he drove off with the unconscious child.

"If you don't come with us boy, we'll hurt the dolphin." A man said harshly as the auburn haired boy gasped.

"No! Please don't hurt the dolphin! I'll do whatever you want!" Cye yelled in fear for his friend's life. Cye walked over to the man, obliging to do whatever the man insisted he do.

"Come with us. We heard about the way that you can talk to sea animals and manipulate water."

"I, I don't mean to manipulate the water. I just want to play with my animal friends. That's all!" The two people sighed.

"We know. But where were taking you, there will be water animals too. In fact, you'll have your own ocean area where you can play with the animals all day." Cye's eyes widened at the idea of playing with his friends all day.

"Now kid, come with us and we won't hurt your dolphin, and you'll get to meet new sea life friends." Cye nodded. He'd do it for the dolphins.

"Tell me your names." Cye said as the Man turned to him.

"I'm Ben Asderen and this is my assistant Heather Koji."

"Sir, don't you think it would have been better if you told the child's family before you take him?" Ben sighed.

"No, because they wouldn't let me take him. Now grab the kid and lets leave." The brunette nodded faintly as she walked over to Cye.

"Hello Cye. I'm Heather. Would you like me to carry you?" Cye nodded softly as the tall woman knelt down and pulled him into her arms.

"Cye, how old are you?" She asked softly as Cye looked at her.

"I just turned 8 about two months ago." Cye whispered as he began to cry.

"Honey, what is it?" Heather asked as Cye sniffled.

"I'm gonna miss my mommy." Cye muttered as Heather gently rubbed his back.

"Cye, you want to know what? I have a daughter older then you that lives where you're going. Her names Mia and I believe you'll have lots of fun together." Cye nodded softly.

"Heather, hurry up!" A voice yelled as Heather grinned at Cye

"Uh oh. We better hurry up before daddy gets mad." She joked as Cye grinned. She then quickly sped up to catch Ben.

Kento grabbed his backpack and slung it across his shoulders, as he prepared to head home. What he least expected was two sets of arms to grab, cuff, and immediately drug him.

"Who are you?" Kento demanded, though it came out like a croaking frog.

"Stupid child..." A voice muttered.

"Oh come on Mitch. He's just a kid. And pretty cute. If I'm right, he's going to be cute when he's older..."

"Alexa, think with your brain, not your future fantasies. This kid has inhuman strength, and the boss wants him."

"Boss? Who cares? If I want to imagine how people look like older, I damn well better be able to." Kento couldn't help but laugh, despite his sedated state.

"Alexa, can we just get the kid and leave?"

"He's still conscious, and he's got super human strength, and I do not want to die at the ripe age of 19."

"19 is not a ripe age."

"Well, it is to me." Alexa said in a huff at the moment Kento passed out.

* * * * *

Four children sat in a room, one still unconscious.

"Hi, I'm Cye Mouri, who are you?" The tawny, auburn haired boy asked a black haired boy, his eyes twinkling.

"I'm Ryo Sanada, and I don't want to be here."

"Well, that's not a very nice attitude!" Cye exclaimed as Ryo shrugged.

"I'm entitled to my opinion. And do you mean to tell me that you came out of your own free will?"

"Well, not exactly. A man said that if I didn't come, he'd kill a dolphin. But there was a lady there named Heather Koji who made me feel better."

"I've figured out that we were all taken for our special abilities, so what is it that you can all do? I can levitate and fly, and make these weird bubble things so that you can breathe at high altitudes." The blue haired boy said.

"By the way, I'm Rowen Hashiba."

"It's nice to meet you Rowen. I can communicate with sea life and influence water." Cye said softly.

"I burn people." Ryo said as he turned to the other conscious boy who had yet to say a thing.

"Well, that's not very nice." Cye said as Ryo shrugged.

"I'm Kento Lei Faun and I've got superhuman strength. I can lift really heavy stuff." The boy said, sensing what Ryo was about to ask. In demonstration, Kento walked over to the blonde boy and lifted him with ease. The blonde moaned and began to stir as Kento dropped him in surprise. Cye ran over to make sure the blonde was OK and gasped back in fear at the eyes glaring at him.

"Where am I? Where's Kyoro?" The blonde asked as he tried to stand up, but fell back to the ground in a wave of dizziness. Cye grabbed the blonde's arms to support him in a gesture of help, but all he got back was menacing look. The blonde tried again to stand but failed, falling against Cye.

"Man, what did they do to you?" Ryo asked.

"Nothing. Some freak hit my dog so I went to help it."

"And then?" Cye asked as the blonde turned away.

"I don't need to tell you the rest." The blonde muttered. He felt a gentle hand on his shoulder and looked up, forgetting about his creepy eyes. What amazed him though, was that the boy he was looking at wasn't scared.

"I'm Rowen Hashiba." He pointed to the people in the room one at a time.

"This is Cye Mouri, This is Ryo Sanada, and this is Kento Lei Faun."

"I'm Sage Date." The blonde replied icily, but Rowen seemed to ignore it.

"We are all here because we have special abilities. I can fly, Ryo can manipulate Fire, Cye can do the same to water, and Kento has inhuman strength. Now are you going to tell us about your power, or are we going to have to guess?"

"Fine. My dog was hit by the car and mangled, so I ran up to him and healed him. I fully healed him, but when I heal, it takes away my own energy and I can barely move, like now. And if I heal too much, then I go into unconsciousness like so." Kento walked over to Cye and picked Sage up off the boy, then set Sage onto the couch. Sage gave no thanks, and instead closed his eyes.

"Hello boys!" A chirpy female voice said as the boys turned to the door. Sage opened his eyes slowly to look at the brunette in the doorway.

"I see our little healer is finally awake!" She said as she skipped over to Sage who glared at her. She slowly slunk away from the boy, and turned to the others.

"So are you guys ready to see your new room?"

"No..." Sage and Ryo said at the same time. Ryo turned to Sage and had to suppress his grin. Great minds think alike.

"Well that's no fun." The girl said, her hands on her hips.

"By the way, I'm Alexa and I'll be basically your councilor, like at school and stuff." She said while grinning.

"Oh, just what I wanted, school." Sage muttered as Ryo snickered.

"Come on guys, follow me and I'll show you around the place!" Ryo sighed as he, Rowen, Kento, and Cye followed the girl to the door.

"Aren't you coming?" She asked, slightly glaring. Sage looked up at her with wide violet eyes.

"But, I just healed my puppy and I'm to weak to get up." Sage said softly as Ryo covered his mouth to keep from laughing at the act the other boy was putting on.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I'll show the other boys around and then later they can tell you where everything is." Sage nodded slowly as he closed his eyes.

"Now just remember that you have to stay here, no leaving." Sage nodded as the five left the room.

"Yeah right." Sage said as he slowly stood up, holding onto the couch for support. He then waited a moment for his head to clear and the dizziness to go away. He then slowly walked out of the room, watching out for other scientists. He slowly slunk around, trying to find the front door. He slowly peered into an empty room that looked like a lab. Sage, his curiosity getting the best of him, stepped into the lab and decided to look around. He looked on a table in the center of the lab, and saw something gleam. He picked the object up and immediately dropped it, letting tiny shards fly everywhere.

"Oh my god! If you insane scientists think that you are coming within a foot of me while you have needle, you are wrong!" It was then that two men came running into the lab.

"What are you doing here kid!?" The man yelled as Sage turned to them in anger.

"What am I doing here is a good question. I don't know. Last thing I remember was healing my dog, and the next thing I remember is waking up then coming in here and finding out that a bunch of freaks plan to use needles on me!" Sage screamed as he turned to the other entrance and bolted out of the room.

"Catch him!" The men yelled as they bolted after Sage. Sage ran down the hallway and right into the others.

"Help..." He muttered as he fell against Ryo.

"Wait, why aren't I burning him?" Ryo asked as Kento helped stabilize Sage.

"Sage, It wasn't smart to run in your condition." Cye said as Sage glared at him.

"I'm... running... from... some freaky... scientists..." Sage gasped as the two men ran up.

"Give us the kid. We need to talk to him." Cye stood in front of Sage and Ryo.

"No. He's tired and he needs his sleep and you aren't going to stop him." Cye said firmly as the men laughed and shoved him aside. Cye closed his eyes as they advanced on Sage and Ryo and a pool of water came crashing down on the two men, who slipped and fell onto the ground.

"It's freezing!" The two men said while shivering, as Ryo grinned.

"Do 'ya want me to warm you up?" Ryo said as a ring of fire surrounded the two men.

"Stop it!" Alexa shouted as the boys sighed. They both held out their hands and absorbed their elements.

"Party pooper." Ryo muttered.

"What do you two want from the kid?" She asked.

"We want to know what he saw in the lab. And teach him a lesson for disobeying the rules." One man stated.

"You stupid fools. All he did was wander off. Kid, what did you see?" Alexa asked, rning to Sage.

"Too many needles. You were going to use them on us weren't you? Just because we're different. You're freaks, you are aware of that aren't you?" Sage said as he eyed the two men.

"You were going to try to see if it was a mutated DNA strand that gave us these powers weren't you? You were going to clone our DNA and genetically engineer people to be enhanced beings so that they can fight your wars, weren't you?" Rowen demanded.

"No.... we weren't planning that, really. We just want to help you so that you can develop your powers." One man said as Kento laughed.

"Yeah right. I think I agree with Rowen." Kento said.

"One of these days we're going to get out and tell everyone what you made us do and you're going to be so dead." Rowen said as the scientists laughed.

"Well boy, there's one catch. You aren't getting out."

"I'll be the judge of that." Sage muttered to Ryo, who smiled.

"Well guys, I've got to go show the boys their room. Now, please don't hurt the blonde kid."

"My name is Sage, thank you very much." The girl rolled her eyes.

"Just follow me." She said as Kento picked up Sage and they followed Alexa to their room.

* * * * *

" Rise and shine boys!" A pretty girl called out as Cye opened his eyes.

"Mrs. Heather!" He called out as he ran to the woman, who pulled him up into her arms.

"Cye, those are adorable!" She said, pointing to the whale pajamas he wore. She turned to the other boys and smiled. They were all adorable children, and she knew that Mia was going to enjoy having new playmates.

"Cye, today you guys get to meet the daughter I told you about."

"Mia?" Heather nodded.

"Mia! Come in here!" Cye and the rest turned to see a little girl in a baby blue dress with red ribbons skip into the room.

"HI!!! I'm Mia!" The girl exclaimed to the boys, all still in pajamas.

"Hi. I'm Cye." Cye said from in Mia's mom's arms.

"I'm Rowen." The blue haired boy said. Mia skipped up to him and shook his hand. She then turned to Kento.

"I'm Kento. And I'm hungry! When are we eating?" He asked as Heather laughed out loud.

"I'll look in on that." Heather said as she and Cye left the room.

"I'm Ryo." The onyx haired boy in the back round said as Mia looked at him and smiled. She then turned to the last boy who had yet to speak.

"OK, are you going to tell me who you are or are we going to have to play the guessing game?"

"Knock yourself out." The boy said as he sat up and turned to the girl. She gasped and jumped away, taken aback by his eyes. Sages smiled at the girl as he shook his head causing a lock the fall in his face and cover one eye.

"Better?" He said as she nodded.

"I'm Sage. It's nice to meet you." He extended his hand to hers as she smiled and took it.

"Hey, girl, Mia, what do they plan to do to us exactly? Are they going to test on us?" Rowen asked as Kento leaned over and hit him.

"Don't give them ideas!"

"I think that's what they said." Mia said, a look of concentration on her face.

"Rowen, you idiot, now look what you've done!" Kento wailed as Cye and Heather entered the room, Cye with a plate of small sandwiches.

"What's in those sandwiches?" Sage asked as Heather shrugged and set down Cye.

"Umm... Deli meat and cheese and lettuce, I believe." Sage glared at her as she cringed.

"I don't eat meat. I believe that killing animals is wrong, so I'll pass." Sage said as he walked over to the dresser and looked at the clothes picked out for the boys. He crinkled his nose in distaste, but eventually found a pair of jeans and a green turtleneck, which he pulled out and carried, into the bathroom. Kento turned to Rowen and faked a gasp.

"He doesn't eat meat? That poor, poor sheltered boy." Kento said as he ate yet another sandwich.

"And Ryo, this is lettuce." Cye said as he pointed to the green plant on the sandwich. Ryo looked on with awe as Cye told him what everything else was. It was then an intercom came on and the boys heard a voice.

"Heather, I want you to bring the boys to the lab at once." The boys looked on in horror.

"I'll be on my way." Heather called out as she walked to the bathroom door.

"Sage, hurry up. We have to report to the lab, now."

"But I haven't taken a shower." He replied.

"Man, are we sure he's human? He's a seven year old that is a vegetarian, takes a shower every morning, can heal, and who knows what else." Rowen said as Ryo shrugged.

"A shower everyday? I'd be lucky if I got one every month." Ryo said as Mia patted his shoulder.

I feel sorry for you. What happened to your parents?"

"'My mom died at childbirth, and my dad died when he was on a photography trip." Mia looked at him in amazement.

"Your dad was a photographer?" Ryo nodded.

"He photographed wildlife." Ryo said as Mia grinned.

"That is so cool!"

"Come on guys, we have to get going. Mia, can you leave for a moment so the boys can change." It was then the fully dressed Sage walked out, with an angry look on his face.

"Depressed about not getting that shower?" Mia asked with a grin as Sage glared at her.

"Do you realize Sage, that while that glare of yours is quite creepy, the fact that you're only seven makes it really cute." Heather said as Sage turned away.

"What the hell is all this stuff? Colgate toothpaste? Liquid mouthwash?" Ryo said from the bathroom. Cye walked into the bathroom and began to show Ryo how to brush his teeth. After the two finished in the bathroom, Rowen and Kento went in. Five minutes later, with Mia gone and the boys ready, they finally headed out to the lab.

"Mrs. Koji, we wish for you to leave now." Heather nodded and began to walk away when Cye grabbed her arm.

"We don't want her to go 'cause she's nice." He said as Heather smiled.

"Well Cye, I have to go because my boss told me to, and if I don't listen, I could get fired." Ryo lit a flame in his hand.

"Fired like this?" He asked as Heather laughed.

"Fired means that I'd lose my job. And if I lose my job, Mia and I will never see you again." Cye gasped.

"We cant' have that! Mrs. Heather, you better go." Heather nodded as she left the room.

"If you plan to come to me with a needle, which I know very well that you are going to do, I am going to burn every hair off your already half bald head." Ryo threatened.

"And that's why we have things called fireproof clothing." The man said. "And me? I could slap you and knock you out." Kento said as the man smiled.

"Not likely. That's why man invented things called tranquilizer darts." Rowen levitated into the air.

"And let me guess, same goes for me?" The man nodded.

"But you can only get me if you can catch me." Rowen said as he flew around the room.

"Every door to this room is closed. Instead of wasting precious sedatives on you, I could just wait 'til you get tired and fall, or willingly come down." Rowen sighed as he came back to the ground.

"I guess my powers will do just as much damage as Ryo's..." The man nodded at Cye.

"My powers are pathetic anyways, not like I could hurt a fly. All I do is heal using my own strength. Aren't I lucky?" The boss nodded in agreement to Sage's sarcasm.

"Yes, you are lucky. Anyone who gets to be part of this project, or anyone who has any powers such as yourselves, are lucky. Anyone who's DNA can help the outcome of a war is lucky." Rowen's eyes widened.

"So I am right! You were planning to copy our DNA that contains the mutated gene that gives us our powers, and insert it into other people so that your wars would no matter what be won!? You low, incompetent, pathetic little man!" Rowen yelled as Sage set his hand on Rowen in an attempt to calm down the boy. Like he did to his dog when it was hurt, he gave of a feeling of light to Rowen, which immediately calmed him down.

"Thanks Sage." Rowen said as he turned back to the man.

"Fine, you want my blood, take it. But do you realize that what you're planning to do won't work? If it's not true of me, then I doubt it is of the others."

"What do you mean?" The man asked Rowen, who smiled.

"My father is also a scientist who lives in his lab. When he found out that I was inhumanly smart, he decided to take matters into his own hands, knowing that though he was smart, no child my age could possibly hold such brains and power. He has yet to find out that I can fly, but I doubt he even realizes that I'm gone. But anyway, He ran a bunch of weird tests, and took my blood, and found that there is nothing wrong with my genes in any way, shape, or form. So I'm sorry to disappoint you, but you're screwed over." Rowen said in a matter of fact voice.

"I would believe you child, if you had told me this before you knew that you were going to get blood taken, but any kid would say that if it was to get out of being pricked by a needle." Rowen looked at him in shock.

"But it's the truth! My dad is a scientist and he ran a bunch of weird tests on me!" The man laughed and shook his head.

"I highly doubt it. Aaron, Michelle, Karen, Rebecca, Alisa, get in her now!" The man shouted into the microphone as the five ran into the room.

"I want you to take the boys to their respected places, then run all the tests." The five walked over to their respected children. They then separated the kids and went off into their respected rooms.

* * * * *

"I don't want the shot!" Cye wailed as he bolted away from the man in the area with him. The brunette man sighed as he tried to catch the scared child that was running around the entire place. They were by a man made ocean, filled with ocean life. There was a large wall though, to keep the child from escaping. Cye then dived into the water.

"Now try to catch me!" Cye yelled as he swam farther and farther into the water. Aaron Welsh was not happy to say the least. He was supposed to give some eight year old a blood test, and he couldn't even get to the kid to take the blood.

"Michelle! Come here and help me! The kid swam away!" Aaron looked out into the water to see Cye talking to the whale that dominated the fake ocean. HE turned to the door when he heard it creak open, and a tall blonde woman with short hair walked in, dragging Rowen behind her.

"Aaron, you idiot! You mean to tell me you lost the kid!? How the heck is that possible!?" She yelled as Aaron turned away.

"I didn't lose the kid. I know where he is. I just can't get to him." The girl sighed as she looked at Rowen.

"Go fly over there and get him." She said as Rowen sighed, but obliged to do so. He flew over to Cye.

"Come on Cye, just get your blood taken. It doesn't hurt that bad." Rowen said as he made a bubble around himself, and then pulled Cye in too.

"But I don't want to get a shot..." Cye cried as he hugged Rowen who patted him on the back.

"Don't worry Cye, after you get the shot we can beg Sage to heal you." Cye nodded as they arrived on the shore. Michelle took Cye's arm and drew the blood, Cye clutching Rowen's hand with all his might. When Michelle finished taking the blood, She placed a fish band-aid on the prick wound.

"Ma'am, can we go see Sage so he can heal Cye's wound so he'll stop crying?" Rowen asked as Michelle nodded. She pulled the syringe containing Rowen's blood and handed it to Aaron.

"I'm going to go take the kids to their friend. The blood I just gave you is the flyers, and here is the water's. I want you to go give these to the boss." Aaron nodded as he left the room.

"Come on you two, we're going to go see your friend the healer." She reached down and pulled the crying Cye up into her arms.

"Oh, and Rowen, if you try to fly, I'm getting you a leash. And it's not going to be one of the extendable ones." She warned while grinning. She then led the two inside and down a few hallways until they came to a totally sealed room. Michelle knocked on it loudly when a harsh female voice replied.

"Who is it!?" Michelle groaned slightly to the boys.

"It's Michelle." The door slowly creaked open as Michelle and the two boys entered the dimly lit room.

"What do you want Michelle?" The wavy black haired woman demanded as Michelle pulled Rowen to her side.

"We came to see the healer." Alisa looked at her and shook her head.

"Why? There is no reason for you to need him." Rowen turned to Cye.

"I figured out one. It's called, to get him away from her." Cye giggled slightly.

"Where is Sage?" Cye asked softly as the light grew brighter. The two boys turned to the corner of the room where Sage had his eyes closed. When he op room faded into its normal darkness. In Sage's arm was a kitten, its fur matted. Sage's arm was visible where the woman had mad many attempts to get his vein, but having failed. Rowen couldn't help but run over to the boy.

"Sage, are you OK?" He asked as Sage nodded.

"I'm fine. But I'm worried about all the animals here. They're hurt, and I can't heal them all. I already healed this kitten. It was the youngest thing here, so I helped it first. Some of the animals are really bad off. If it's not broken limbs, it's diseases and illnesses. Some of these animals are going to die. I'm too weak, I can't help them all. This kitten had a broken leg. I healed that, then found out the kitten also had pneumonia. I healed that too, and I'm already tired." Sage pulled Rowen to the ground next to him, then moved closer to whisper in the blue haired boys ear.

Rowen, I want you and Cye to sneak this kitten out of here when you leave, OK?" Rowen nodded as Sage handed him the kitten, which he immediately put in his jacket.

"Rowen, this animals were recently exposed to these viruses, and all around the same time. And the bones weren't accidentally broken. They were broken on purpose and I think the viruses were on purpose too. I think the scientists are doing this to test my abilities. I'm going to heal as many as I can. I don't care if it knocks me out." Sage said as Rowen looked around, not having seen the cages filled with all different animals ranging from deer to dogs. Rowen walked back over to Cye and Michelle.

"Cye, didn't you come here to ask Sage something?" Cye shook his head in response.

"He's helping the animals which is a lot more helpful then healing my tiny bruise." Cye said as Michelle glared at Alisa.

"Alisa, I know it's none of my business, but shouldn't you be a little bit nicer to the boy? Don't pretend that I don't see his arm. I know very well that you know how to draw blood with out screwing up 50 times." Alisa glared back at Michelle.

"It was dark and I couldn't see correctly." Michelle sighed but decided not to press the issue.

"Well, remember, you have to have him back in an hour, and don't forget that you have to give the boss the blood sample." Michelle said as she and the two boys left the room.

"That lady was mean!" Cye exclaimed as soon as they were out of ears reach.

"Michelle, Cye, guess what Sage gave me?" Rowen said as the other two shrugged.

"What?" Cye asked as Rowen pulled the kitten out of his pocket. Cye gasped and immediately reached out for the kitten Rowen had.

"Was this the kitty Sage was holding?" Cye asked as Rowen nodded.

"Sage said that the scientists gave the animals viruses and broke their bones on purpose so that he would have to heal them. They think he's stupid, and they don't know that he knows." Michelle's eyes widened. These children were smart. She had refused to be a part of it, but they had to get some animals to catch and hadn't found time to get actually hurt animals, so the animals they caught they had to hurt. No one had expected for Emanuel to come home with a healer.

"Michelle, can we go back to our room?" The boys asked as Michelle nodded. She then led the boys to the room and dropped them off. When they entered the room they saw a pissed Ryo lying on the bed.

"What's the matter Ryo?" Cye asked as he sat on the edge of the bed.

"'The lady that is supposed to be guarding me and helping me and stuff is a real bitch. She got all mad at me and slapped me because I was playing with fire. It was an accident when it caught her skirt. I didn't mean to make her scream and start rolling on the floor." Cye rolled his eyes. But he would be mad too if someone slapped him for an accident.

"Man Ryo, if you think the lady guarding you was bad, you haven't seen Sage yet. What they did was they purposely injured animals and infected them with diseases so that Sage would have to heal them. I don't think he'll be conscious when he returns." Ryo's eyes went wide at the comment.

"Isn't that harsh?" He said as the others nodded in agreement. It was then a girl with brown hair entered their door with a sleepy Kento following her. She looked the room over before leaving it again. Kento immediately walked over to his bed and lied down

"I don't like sedatives." He murmured as he closed his eyes. Cye gasped as he scampered over to the larger boy, who upon contact with the floor had fallen asleep.

"Wow. Sedatives must be harsh. He's out like a light." With the combined efforts of the three conscious boys, they managed to haul Kento onto his bed. After that was accomplished, the three proceeded to collapse onto the small couch in the corner of the room. It was nearly an hour when Sage's presence entered the room, carried by the ungrateful woman who had been torturing him earlier. She dumped him recklessly on his bed, and quickly left the room. All the boys ran over to Sage, Rowen the first to reach the blonde.

"Sage?" He asked, shaking the blonde boy softly. Sage's limp body shivered slightly, before coming immobile once more. Cye sat on the other side of Sage, gently removing the sweaty blonde locks from across the boy's eyes. Sage moaned softly at the touch, curling slightly towards Cye, who gave the rest a confused look. Barely audible, Ryo could have sworn he heard Sage mutter the word "Mommy" As Cye touched him. But as he glanced around the room at the confused other, he doubted his hearing. Sage most likely hadn't said anything, and since the others were closer, he left it to his imagination.

"Is he going to be OK?" Kento asked as Cye shrugged, still running his eight-year-old fingers through the golden mass of hair. Ryo glanced at Sage's limp form, at the moment the blonde's eyes fluttered open. Sage glanced, confusedly around the room, until he noticed Cye's hand in his hair. He glared at the boy, who slowly removed his hand from the golden locks.

"Don’t touch me." He snarled, sitting up, and immediately falling back on Cye.

"Why is the room moving?" He asked suddenly, as the other’s eyed each other oddly.

"Umm... only to you Sage, only to you." Rowen muttered as Sage sighed, letting his head rest on Cye’s lap, where he had fallen only moments before.

"‘M so tired." He muttered, eyelids drooping. "Then sleep mate. No use staying up when you’re tired." Sage nodded. He was usually one to protest, but at the moment, he could care less if the others saw him sleeping on Cye’s lap. He was just too tired to care. Cye smiled as Sage’s head lolled back on his lap, and he watched as the blonde curled up in a ball.

"Aww, isn’t he cute?" Cye giggled as the others rolled their eyes.

"Cye, he’s not a cute animal, and no, you can’t take him home and keep him." Cye glared at the grinning Ryo.

"I wasn’t going to keep hi." Ryo gave a warning glace.

"Cye..." Cye sighed.

"Fine, I’ll be good." Ryo nodded as Heather entered the room with a sleeping Mia in her arms.

"Boys, It’s bed time. OK, I see Sage is already asleep, but the rest of you need to too."

"Aww..." the boys muttered as Heather gave them a stern, warning glance. With more groans, they all got into their designated beds.

"Ok, good night boys." "Night Heather." The boys chorused, Cye still on the bed with Sage.
