The Seer Prince

by Angel of Fire

Chapter 1

Mia watched in slight annoyance as her younger brother, the heir to the throne, ran out of the castle towards the forest. She sighed, quickly casting a protection spell on her brother to keep his powers from being abused by someone. It wasn’t Sage’s fault that he had been born a seer, but none-the-less, the blonde indeed could see things about people at the simple touch of skin upon skin.

Sage had gotten annoyed at his father, as he always did, but something had made this the last straw, as he finally gave into his threat and ran away from home. She worried about him. He was capable of self-defense, but he never lifted his sword for any reason. And with his powers, his looks, his status, and his reluctance to respond to abuse, he was the perfect prey to any predator. Which was not a good thing. Well, hopefully he’d take care of himself.

"Ugh! I hate my father! I wish he’d just leave me be! Why can’t he understand me? Why can’t he stop trying to abuse my powers? I hate the man! I hate him!" Sage continued running through the forest, stumbling often on the dead weight of his silken garbs. Finally, he stumbled and landed in a puddle of mud, as finally the tears that had threatened to fall before, streamed down his cheeks.

"Damn it! Damn it all!" He sobbed, until he heard the chipper laughter of a soft tenor voice.

"Silly prince boy! You’re going to get yourself hurt if your not careful, little one." With a glare of rebellion, the prince rose to his feet.

"I am not just a silly prince, and I am not little!" Shaking his head, he watched the mud fly off his hair. The boy up in the tree merely laughed as he leapt from the branch, landing gracefully next to the prince.

"Well, there’s your biggest problem! You can barely see yourself! Well, we have to get rid of some of those clothes." Reaching around, Ryo yanked Sage’s sash off as silk fell in a pool to his feet, all except the under slip that he was required to wear underneath. Sage gasped, desperately trying to cover himself with his arms, his face flushed. Ryo glanced at him and laughed.

"Gods you’re shy! Silly little one, I can’t believe that you’re so self conscious!" Sage continued blushing as he hung his head, which still dripped with mud. Ryo grinned as he lifted Sage’s face, attempting to brush away as much mud as he could. Sage winced, waiting for the visions to flood his mind as they always did; yet they never came. He sighed in relief, Mia must have seen him leave and cast the spell that she cast on him so often. Gods he loved his sister, she was so kind to him. At least someone in his family he cared about.

"Come on little prince, come with me and we can get you cleaned off." Sage nodded faintly as Ryo pulled him close. Whistling loudly, and to the shock of the prince, a silvery figure appeared.

"Is that a... a... Unicorn?" Ryo grinned and nodded, as the creature walked over.

"She won’t hurt you. She just wants to get to know you." Sage nodded as he reached out with his arm and carefully pet the creature. It began to nuzzle his hand, as he laughed softly.

"You really are gorgeous aren’t you?" The horse neighed as Ryo grinned.

"She likes you. She’ll let us ride." Sage smiled as Ryo leapt onto the horse, and reached out, helping pull the blonde up. Quickly, they rode to the lake that Ryo spent his days at, as Sage clung to the other man in fear of falling off the animal. Finally, they arrived as Ryo jumped off and helped Sage down.

"Come on little prince, take off your clothes."

"What?!" Sage demanded with wide eyes.

"Well, you have to get the mud off you! So that would require you to take off your clothes and stuff. Not like I’m going to do anything to you. Come on little prince, off with your clothes." Sage stuttered and froze as he felt Ryo remove the slip off him, leaving him extremely vulnerable. Sage quickly crumpled to the floor to cover himself, as Ryo laughed. Quickly, he swooped the shocked, and rather nude prince into his arms, dumping the royal member into the lake. Sage gasped and sputtered in the water, until Ryo realized what was wrong. It was now apparent that Sage had no idea how to swim. Cursing to himself, Ryo quickly threw off his cloak and deerskin clothes, as he dove into the water. Carefully he lifted Sage above the water, holding the nude figure against his own chest.

Sage coughed as he tried to force the liquid from his lungs. Gently Ryo patted the blondes back, as Sage’s breathing and struggles paid off, as he began to breathe steadily once more.

"Why didn’t you tell me you couldn’t swim? You poor thing! I almost killed you!" Ryo continued hugging Sage, who stood still in the arms of the other man; his face still tinted red as he felt the also nude boy pressed up against him.

"You didn’t give me the time to warn you." Sage stated as Ryo nodded.

"Sorry." Sage shook his head.

"Don’t worry about it." Sage murmured, as he rested his head on the other man’s shoulder.

"Umm.... Sire, what are you doing?" Rowen called out as he watched his Master’s nude form pressed against another man’s. Sage glanced up and noticed, with slight fear, that his personal servant, Rowen Hashiba, was standing on the shore with all of his clothes, not only the under slip that had recently been removed.

"Rowen! I’m fine! I didn’t mean.... I mean, I’m not..."

"Sage, get out of the water! Your father wants you back. We have captured a man from the Valorian army, and we need your help!" Sage groaned rubbing his face against Ryo’s chest.

"So your name is Sage. Well little prince, why exactly are you needed for interrogating a man?"

"I won’t go back... Rowen! Tell my father that I will not come back and let him abuse my powers! I refuse to do that again! He’s made me do it since I was a child, and I refuse to be a servant to my own father any longer!" Rowen sighed as he quickly folded Sage’s clothes.

"Fine sire. I shall tell him. But you know that I’ll be telling him more as well." And with that, Rowen was gone.

"I repeat myself, what is this that they want from you?" Sage sighed, snuggling closer to Ryo.

"I’m a seer. When I touch someone, I can see everything about them." Ryo’s eyes widened.

"You mean...?" Sage shook his head.

"No. My sister cast a spell over me, which keeps my powers at bay for an hour or so." Ryo nodded. "By the way, what is your name, seeing as you know mine?" Ryo smiled.

"Ryo. Ryo Sanada." Sage nodded.

"It’s nice to meet you then."

"I think that we’ve already been acquainted." Ryo smiled as he brought his lips to the blushing blonde.

"A little straightforward are we not?" Ryo grinned.

"A little shy, are we not?" Sage’s face flushed deeper as he pulled away slightly.

"Ryo, we better leave. My father will be sending his men soon to take me back. Though I am a prince, I am also a prisoner. Odd that they begin with the same three letters. I think that there may be a reason for it. There are far too many similarities. " Ryo sighed as he used one arm to keep Sage with him, and the other to swim ashore. Quickly, he threw on his own clothes as Sage pulled on his.

"Sage, let me get this right. Your father makes you stay in the house, because you can see into the minds of prisoners, instead of having to interrogate them?" Sage nodded miserably.

"Indeed." Ryo winced.

"Then I am sorry." Ryo placed his hand on Sage’s cheek, as the blonde gasped.

"No! The spell, it’s worn off...." Sage whimpered as he fell to his knees, moaning in pain. Ryo stared down in horror as he knelt next to the blonde, holding the blonde to him. Sage continued muttering incoherently, trembling on the other boy.

"Mother! Father! Where are you?" The trembling young boy asked fearfully, as he ran around the forest, trying to find his parents whom he had become lost from a few moments before. Some men had come in search of him, yet his parents had protected him, leading the men away from their young son. And now he couldn’t find them anywhere. They were all right, he prayed. They had to be anyways. These were his parents; nothing would make them leave him. They would always stand by his side. So, he continued looking for them. Except, he never found them....

Ryo slowly cleansed his body in the lake, humming to himself cheerfully. It was a song that he’d never heard before, yet it kept coming back to his mind. About four lands, a prince and his lover (A male lover he noted with interest, which was not too common in what he supposed was a bard’s song), four protectors of the lands, and the war that was waged during the time of the protectors. He smiled, stepping out of the water and shaking his head to dry of the tendrils of wet hair like a scraggly cur. Smiling, he continued to whistle the soft tune as he pulled on his clothes.

"Men! In the forest? Come on! We have to get out of here!" quickly, Ryo gathered all of the animals, as he leapt onto the back of a wild stallion that had become a permanent resident of the forest. Quickly, the group raced off in a direction away from the intruders. They were after him, and he knew it. He knew what he was, and he knew that he couldn’t let them have him.

"Ryo...." Sage gasped as he buried his head in Ryo’s chest. Any time that he involuntarily looked into the depth of people’s minds, he would feel this way. Weak, festered, worn-out, mentally beaten, all signs of what he had just done.

"Sage, are you alright?" Ryo asked in concern as Sage nodded softly.

"Why are they after you Ryo?" Ryo gasped at the question.

"Because of what I am I guess. I never really knew exactly why my Guardian status was so important to so many people, but I was wrong." Sage gasped.

"You’re one of the four legendary guardians?" Sage asked in shock. Ryo nodded.

"Yeah, I’m fire, the guardian of the forests." Sage shook his head in disbelief.

"I can’t believe that I’m meeting one of the legendary guardians." He stated, his head resting on Ryo’s shoulder.

"Well, I never expected to meet the prince, but little did I know."

"Well, my status is nothing compared to you. I don’t care if I’m a seer or a prince. It truly is an honor to meet you. I’d bow in respect to you if I could muster the strength to rise." Ryo shook his head, tightening his grip on the blonde prince.

"I’d rather just hold you then have you give me all this sophisticated crap." Sage blushed as he snuggled up closer in Ryo’s arms. Closing his eyes, Sage allowed himself to drift into a light sleep, as Ryo smiled. Seeing into peoples minds unwillingly must really tire the poor prince. It was within a few minutes of Sage’s resting, when the peace was broken.

"Stop right there!" Sage’s eyes shot open as he recognized the men surrounding them.

"Valorian men!" He cried out, as he pressed himself against Ryo in fear. Ryo wrapped his arms tightly around Sage’s trembling body.

"Look guys! We came for the last Guardian and we found the prince of Alvania! We’re just having the best luck."

"Are you sure that’s the prince? I mean, he’s not wearing much." Slowly, Sage rose to his feet, as the men grinned.

"Damn, how come the Alvanian’s prince has great legs and ours doesn’t have this hot body?" Sage glanced down and blushed. The damn slip was all he had on. And it was far more see through then he had wanted it to be.

"Please, take me but leave Sage." The men laughed at Ryo’s plead.

"Oh, that would be smart. As far as we’re concerned, he’s just as important. What’s better then having the heir to the throne of our worst enemy? And the ONLY heir?" The men laughed.

"Now, just surrender and make our lives a lot easier." Sage shook his head in fear. He shouldn’t have run away. He should have just surrendered himself to his fathers will, and continued doing what he hated. Ryo slowly rose and pulled Sage to his chest protectively.

"It seems like this will have to be harder then we thought. Get them." Sage tried to cover his head, but was too late as something smashed down on him, and everything went black.
