Feudal Honor by Chibi Washuu Prologue ______________________________________________________________________________ A Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers Story You know I don’t own any of this (except the idea, that is.) Umm, ok. This is the first fic I’ve ever done like this, so forgive me if it’s bad. I’ve tried to keep things as historically correct as possible family-wise and since it takes place in feudal Japan, all the Japanese names are used. Anyway, if you like this chapter please tell me so I’ll know whether to continue or trash it. Arigato-gozymashita! J A Small Glossary: Konbun wa: Good evening Hai: Yes Iyé: No Sore wa himitsu desu: It’s a secret Domo: Thank you, not as polite as saying arigato or arigato-gozymashita Nippon: Japan Toshitada Koma is Anubis/Sh’ten Kujuurou Sasaki is Cale/Anubis ***** The night was completely still. The city of Sendai was fast asleep, feeling safe with the impenetrable fortress that was Date castle looming over it. The youth kneeling on the cliff above the valley grinned. No one would know what had happened until it was too late. A breeze began to blow through his raven hair as he went over his plan again, examining every angle. It was perfect, far too easy for a ninja of his caliber. Blue eyes narrowed as he heard someone approach. His sword was halfway unsheathed when he turned to face the intruder. "Easy, Sanada Ryo," the newcomer said, holding up his hands to show he was unarmed. Ryo smiled and replaced the sword in its sheath. "Konbun wa, Toshitada Koma-san," he greeted the other man. Koma was tall for his age, with long red hair and soft, compassionate brown eyes. He was not ninja by birth, but Ryo’s father had allowed him to join their clan. The Toshitada were pacifists, chased from their valley home by a war between the families on either side of them. Young Koma had been 12 then, with dreams of becoming samurai. He had quickly befriended the then 10-year-old Ryo, but in the way deep respect forged friendship. As was custom, Koma didn’t learn the secrets of the ninja, but was trained as a chunin¾ a middleman. If someone wanted to hire the clan, it was usually young Koma they dealt with. Now, the 19-year-old knelt beside his friend, looking over Sendai. "You’re sure you want to do this, Ryo?" Ryo looked over at him. "How can you be sure I am Ryo, Toshitada Koma?" he asked with a grin. The wind picked up, and the other returned the grin. "And how can you be sure I am Toshitada Koma?" he asked in return as the wind whipped though his long red hair. Ryo laughed softly. "Hai. How indeed?" Both men knew that the other could be in disguise. Disguise was one of the many things a ninja was known for. Reveal nothing: that was their way of life. He looked back at the city and his grin turned malicious. "We hold the contract with Kujuurou-sama. I have no choice." Koma frowned and nodded once. "You won’t come with us." It was a statement rather than a question, but Koma still shook his head. "Iyé. I can’t and you know it. It’s not my place. Besides, I don’t know any of the secrets of ninja battle." He looked over at the raven-haired 17-year-old. "Will you go in disguise?" "Sore wa himitsu desu," Ryo replied and Koma laughed "Very well. The others are ready on your command." "Domo, Koma-san." Koma patted his friend’s shoulder and stood to go. "As soon as I am inside the village they are to sneak in and set fire to it." The red-haired man stopped, shocked. "Set fire to the village?" Ryo looked at him over his shoulder. "Did Sasaki-sama not say to demolish the Date clan?" "Hai, but... kill all those innocents?" "Their lives mean nothing to me." Koma knew better than to argue. It wasn’t exactly Ryo’s fault. It was the way he was raised. "Very well," he replied hanging his head. Ryo looked to Date castle. ‘Are you prepared for your death, Date Masamune?’ he thought. ‘Are you prepared to witness the banishment of your name from Nippon?’ That’s it. What do you think?
